Why we suspended service for 4 months at Finosell.
I’m Moses Adeyinka Founder & CEO of Finosell, I love sharing inside stories of Finosell, this is to help upcoming startup founder ease their journey.
Finosell, the online shopping security app first launched in January 2020. As of then, we were just two on the team, my best friend Oluwadara Oke (a confidence-building coach) who also doubles as the writer.
Truth be told running a startup company isn’t easy but we glad we’re here, after running for months I decided to improve our services & the quality of our product for 4 months. Shutting down was inevitable since domain migration was involved, my advice to startup founder is to do everything necessary to stabilize their services. These are the following things I took into note & executed:
- Product-market fit
“Product-market fit describes a scenario in which a company’s target customers are buying, using, and telling others about the company’s product in numbers large enough to sustain that product’s growth and profitability.”
Have you ever downloaded an app you just can’t register successfully, phew! You’re turn off, I don’t want such experience for our users on Finosell, Making Finosell a product fit for the users has been my desire, I could recall how we lost some early users to inability to successfully complete their registration swiftly but we have to grow steadily, the first launch was to test run idea behind Finosell which was perfectly done with the help of my WhatsApp status viewer, lol! Most of my WhatsApp status viewers are my friends & fans, shoutout to them. I’ve read much thought on startup growth & people’s experiences. My conclusion is that product-market fit should be the priority of startup tech companies to enhance customer retention & user’s experience.
- Referee system
Speaking truthfully, the best way to share our profits with our users was through the referee system, so we will love to pay you for using the Finosell app in your online purchases. So imagine you earn for referring people to the Finosell app. Cool & soft cash!

As online shopping security, I really wish to make online selling & social media shopping(social commerce) safer for every online shopper but nonetheless it a deep imbalance if only shoppers are put into considerations, online sellers are also in the equation. We decided to create something fantastic for online sellers, we created sellers tools to facilitates trade & help online sellers brands. There are many online sellers can do with a website that can facilitate sales or promote their brand but building one & managing it isn’t an easy task for small scale sellers while some don’t even have the funds to set up one, what if they can easily create a free one-page e-commerce website within 5 minutes won’t that be wow!
